Four killed in Afghan clash
GARDEZ: US-led coalition forces killed three Afghan police officers and a civilian in an hour-long battle apparently provoked by a “misunderstanding”, an Afghan official said on Sunday.
However, a US military spokeswoman said the four killed were militants who had attacked a coalition convoy, injuring two US soldiers near Gardez in Paktia province in Afghanistan’s violence-wracked southeast. The four died on Saturday night in fighting between a patrolling coalition convoy and an Afghan police post, Gardez security commander Noor Hai Seliman Khial said. —AFP
