Kuerten targets March return

RIO DE JANEIRO: Triple French Open champion Gustavo Kuerten has targeted March 2005 to return to the courts after recovering from his latest hip surgery.

The 28-year-old Brazilian, French Open winner in 1997, 2000 and 2001, underwent surgery in September to cure his long-standing problem and hopes to be back in action for the start of the clay court season. “I won’t train with a ball until the end of January,” said Kuerten on Wednesday. “The tournaments at the start of 2005 are not part of my plans and I could probably be playing again in March, taking it step-by-step.” afp
