7-Up official drink of Champions Trophy

Staff Report

LAHORE: Soft drink 7-Up is the official drink of the Champions Trophy, stated Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) secretary Musarrat Ullah Khan during a press conference here on Thursday.

The PHF signed co-sponsorship deal with 7-Up for the December 4-12 six-nation tournament to be played at National Hockey Stadium. The deal was signed between PHF secretary and representative of 7-Up Nauman Hasan at a simple but an impressive ceremony.

The PHF official said the name of the famous beverage brand would appear on the left sleeve of the shirts of the Pakistan players. “We are delighted that we have been joined by 7-Up which will be associated with the game for one year under the contract. And their contribution will go a long way to promote hockey,” he added.

Musarrat refused to reveal the amount and other financial aspects of the deal and said the co-sponsorship amount was confidential and cannot be made public. He said the co-sponsors would also be given adequate space inside the stadium for the advertisement of their brand.

The representative of the sponsors Nauman said his organisation had come forward to promote hockey and to sponsor a major event which was taking place in Pakistan after a long time. “It is a new beginning for 7-Up with hockey and we hope it will flourish with the passage of time.” He said the main objective of 7-Up to come forward to sponsor hockey was to revive the national sport of Pakistan and to help the national federation attain lost glory. The press conference was also attended by assistant coach Asif Bajwa, manager Samiullah and PHF director marketing Sardar Naveed Haider.
