Suicide bombing kills nine recruits in Afghanistan

KABUL: At least nine people were killed and 27 wounded in a suicide bomb blast in front of the Kabul Military Training Centre (KMTC) on Wednesday.

Speaking to Pajhwok Afghan News, defence ministry spokesman Zahir Azimi said that that the suicide bombing took place at around 4:30pm in Pul-i-Charkhi, east of Kabul.

Another source in the defence ministry said that a suicide bomber on a motorbike crashed into a bus carrying Afghan National Army (ANA) recruits. The explosion took place near the vote count centre in Kabul.

Meanwhile, two policemen and a civilian were killed and four civilians wounded in a suspected mine blast in Kunar. Authorities said Taliban might have planted the device. A Bangladeshi engineer working with the UN was wounded by a roadside bomb on Tuesday while travelling in a convoy in Nangarhar, said UN spokesman Samuel Hendricks, adding that he was taken for treatment to the US military base in Bagram, north of Kabul. agencies
