70 child jockeys handed over to parents in Rahimyar Khan
SADIQABAD: The Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) in Rahimyar Khan has handed over 70 camel jockeys to their parents who were recently repatriated to Pakistan from Gulf States.
CPWB district coordinator Abdul Rab Farooqi told APP on Sunday that the Punjab government had established the CPWB on July 15 for protection of children and their welfare. “Another 25 camel jockeys are in Lahore who do not know their home addresses but simply remember that they belong to Rahimyar Khan,” he said, adding that they were smuggled to Gulf states at early ages. Farooqi said that the bureau is making efforts to trace out their parents.
He said the parents whom the bureau had handed over children were being monitored to ensure that these kids were not mishandled. app
