Three of family run over by train

LAHORE: A family of three was run over by a train on Sunday when their motorcycle broke down on a railway track in Kotlakhpat. Muhammad Mazhar, 45, resident of Green Town, was a security guard in a private firm. On Sunday, Mazhar, his wife Khursheed and son Kamran were going on a motorcycle to see Mazhar’s relatives in Kotlakhpat. Mazhar’s motorcycle broke down when he was crossing the Chand Mari railway crossing in Gujjar Colony and a train ran them over. The bodies were given to their family without autopsy.

Man dies of stray bullet: A man died in Nolakha police jurisdiction. Muhammad Imran was from Sangla and was working in a factory in Tegore Park. He was sleeping in the factory’s courtyard when a stray bullet hit him. His colleagues took him to Mayo Hospital where he died. The body was sent for autopsy.

Man dies of glue sniffing: A man died after sniffing glue in the Liaqatabad police jurisdiction. Ramzan was from Okara and was working as a security guard at a shop on Link Model Town Road. He was sniffing glue with his friend Arshad Masih when he fell unconscious. People took him to General Hospital where he died. The body has been rushed to the city mortuary for autopsy.

Man killed by neighbour: A man was killed by his neighbour in a monetary dispute in Nawankot police precincts. Shahbaz had a monetary dispute with his neighbour Rana Muzaffar. They both had a fight over the issue and Muzaffar shot him. The body was sent for autopsy.

Case registered against candidate’s supporters: Green Town police have registered a case against an election brawl which occurred late at night on Saturday. Police said that supporters of two nazim candidates had a fight during which they opened fire. As a result a nazim candidate Dr Liaqat and his sister Nagina got injured. Liaqat’s supporters protested and forced the shopkeepers to put up the shutters, burnt tires and public property.

Post-poll violence in Gulberg: Panic spread through the Gulberg area on Sunday when the brother of union council 95 (Gulberg Town) nazim candidate Chaudhry Abdul Waheed, along with his accomplices attacked supporters of Waheed’s rival candidate with an axe.

Waheed’s brother Javed and his friends Tara, Amir and Badshah attacked Javed Bhatti, the brother of Waheed’s rival candidate Zulfiqar Bhatti, his son Qadeer Bhatti and relative Hafiz Mohsin. Bhatti, his son and a relative got injured and were taken to hospital.

Later they went to Ghalib Market police station to register a case but the police refused.
