‘No pressure group in MMA’
PESHAWAR: NWFP Information Minister Asif Iqbal Daudzai on Saturday denied a news item appearing in a section of the press that ten members of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) led by Deputy Speaker Ikramullah Shahid had formed a pressure group to revolt against the provincial government. Calling the news item baseless and misleading, he said that MMA legislators could neither be bought nor black mailed. They were the true representatives of people who had voted for them to resolve their problems, he added. Daudzai said that there was complete understanding within the ranks of the religious alliance, adding that the MMA had trust and confidence in the leadership of Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani. He said the MMA government had the distinction that it was giving equal rights to members of the provincial assembly and there was no disparity in the distribution of funds to MPAs. Daudzai said that the MMA enjoyed the support of the masses and a no-trust motion against the MMA government in the NWFP assembly was out of question. The information minister said Akram Durrani was in close contact with the MMA members who frequently called on him for the resolution of their problems. app
