New govt will ensure good governance, says Shujaat

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Saturday expressed confidence in the new government of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, saying it would ensure good governance in the country.

Talking to reporters after the swearing-in ceremony, Chaudhry Shujaat said there would be an exemplary relationship between the party and the government in the coming days.

He added that economic activities would gain momentum under Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz leadership and there would be healthy foreign investment in various sectors of economy. Chaudhry Shujaat said the new government would focus on ensuring the protection of life and property of the common man and would work to provide basic amenities of life at their doorstep.

He said that the PML as the ruling party would provide a guideline to the government in policy-making. Present on the occasion, former prime minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali said that Shaukat Aziz would put the country’s economy on the right track. “With his economic expertise and acumen, Shaukat Aziz will safeguard national interests and fulfill his responsibilities with commitment,” Jamali told journalists. app
