41 MNAs demand Saraiki province

AHMEDPUREAST: Pakistan Saraiki Party (PSP) has demanded a separate Saraiki province, in a meeting chaired by Haji Muhammad Aslam Kanju, sources said.
Mr Kanju vociferously demanded that General Pervez Musharraf accept the demand for a Seraiki Province. He said that 41 members of the National Assembly, who were led by Riaz Hussain Pirzada, had seconded the demand, which meant 50 million people supported the idea.
Punjab Deputy Secretary General PSP Shabbir Lakhesar was the chief guest. He stressed the need to organise the PSP at the grass-roots level.
According to reports, in a resolution passed during the meeting, the PSP demanded that the Government make subtehsil Uch Sharif a subdivision and that the Ahmedpur East subdivision be converted into a new district by joining Tehsil Liaquatpur and Cholistan.
PSP was concerned over the poor state of roads and streets in Ahmedpur East especially the Circular Road and urged the district council and the tehsil council to allocate funds for its construction.
Postings and transfers: Punjab government had appointed Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Mian Irfanullah as Sub Divisional Police Officer Ahmedpur East and transferred DSP Muhammad Tufail Wattoo as Bahawalpur Assistant Deputy Inspector General Police (ADIG).
Bahawalpur DSP Karamatullah Malik had been transferred and posted to Khanpur as Subdivisional Police Officer while Kotliwal Circle Multan Assistant Superintendent Police Captain Muhammad Asim Khan would replace him on Monday.
