Pakistan testfires Abdali successfully

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Tuesday successfully testfired its 180-km range, surface-to-surface Abdali (Hatf-II) missile, concluding a three-day series of missile tests.

“It was the first test flight of Abdali which is capable of carrying warheads accurately up to a range of 180kms. The flight data confirmed its accuracy and all other design parameters, which were successfully validated,” an official announcement said.

“It demonstrates Pakistan’s determination to defend itself, strengthen its national security and consolidate the strategic balance in the region.” As a confidence-building measure, all neighbouring countries were informed about the test in advance, the announcement said.

Shaheen test delayed: The testfiring of Shaheen-II long-range ballistic missile has been postponed. “Shaheen-II is likely to be testfired within a couple of months as part of the next series of missile tests,” sources told Daily Times.
