Two die in rice mill boiler blast

OKARA: Two employees were killed and eight others injured when a boiler exploded at a rice mill on Monday.
Ghulam Farid, who was praying at the time of incident, and another employee, Ameer Bux, were instantly killed after the boiler exploded. Allah Rakha, Madni, Tariq, Ashique, Yameen, Fazal Haq, Mumtaz and Hafiz Ghulam Nabi were injured and admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital. The cause of the explosion was not known. The mill, located near village 2 /4L, is owned by Sheikh Haji Fateh Muhammad. Police are investigating.
Mass weddings: Twenty-three Muslim and three Christian couples tied the knot in Okara on Sunday.
Rao Sikandar Iqbal, the federal defence minister, Muhammad Arshad Khan Lodhi, the Punjab agriculture minister, and Sikandar Cheema, an advisor to the Punjab chief minister, Muhammad Aslam Kamboh, the district coordination officer, also attended the ceremony at the Municipal Gardens on Sunday. Addressing the ceremony, Mr Iqbal said the construction of the Cadet College project and other development projects would start soon.
