Bars urged to help improve judicial system

LAHORE: Wasi Zafar, the federal law minister, has urged the bar councils to play a role in dispensing inexpensive and quick justice to people.
Addressing a seminar arranged by Pakistan Institute of National Affairs (PINA), the minister said that bar councils should train legal experts so that rules formed by the judiciary could be implemented efficiently.
Bars should avoid politics and strengthen the judicial system, said a PINA statement on Tuesday. He also called for frequent interaction between lawyers and bars. He said the government was also considering revising judges’ pay scale.
Abid Hasan Manto, Ahmad Awais, Humayun Ehsan, Jahangir Iqbal Jhoja, Masood Akhtar, Zafar Iqbal, Shamsa Ali, Nasira Javed Iqbal, Kaleem Khusheed, Chaudhry Fawad Hussain and Altaf Hasan Qureshee, PINA secretary general, also addressed the seminar.
