Six picnickers killed in Gilgit

By Ibrahim Shahid

GILGIT: About six picnickers were killed and seven others injured in two different incidents on Friday.

Six men were killed and two injured when their Suzuki fell into Gilgit River near Sherqilla police check post, police sources said.

Police said the picnickers were going to Gilgit for the Eid holiday when the incident occurred because of defective headlights.

As a result the driver could not judge the road ahead and lost control. Police fished the bodies from Gilgit River and they were buried in their native towns.
