Five die from drinking poisonous liquor

MULTAN: About five men were killed and another seven sank into comas after drinking poisonous locally manufactured liquor in 49/WB village in Vehari on Thursday.

Vehari District Police Officer Javed Ali Shah said about a dozen friends bought the liquor on Wednesday night to celebrate Eid, but fell conscious after drinking it. They were immediately taken to the district hospital where doctors referred them to the Multan Nishtar Hospital because of their serious condition. The five who died were identified as Muhammad Asif, Malik Saeed, Irshad Ahmed, Abdul Wadood and Muhammad Sharif. Dr Ijaz said another six were still in critical condition. —Staff Report
