Kidnapped judges freed
SUKKUR: Two additional sessions judges of Shikarpur, kidnapped nearly two months ago, were released by their abductors on Friday, with police denying there had been any deal between them and the kidnappers. The additional session judges kidnapped on December 3, Abdul Wahab Abbasi and Farooq Ahmed Channa, were recovered by police from urban locations in Larkana and Shikarpur districts on Friday morning and Friday night respectively, police said, with Mr Channa being released not long after police predicted he would be freed within 24 hours. Mr Abbasi was recovered close to the Akil police checkpoint near Larkana while Mr Channa in the ‘katcha’ Golo Daro area. Mr Abbasi’s release had been announced in the evening by Shikarpur District Police Officer KK Memon at a press conference. Mr Abbasi was also present on the occasion. Police said the releases came about purely as a result of pressure applied by them on the kidnappers, including arrests of some of their family members. staff report
