Kharrazi discusses gas pipeline with Aziz
DAVOS: Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi called on Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum here on Friday and discussed bilateral cooperation. The two leaders discussed various aspects of the proposed gas pipeline project from Iran to Pakistan and its possible extension to India. The prime minister said that the present level of economic cooperation did not reflect true relationship between the two countries and emphasised to boost trade relations. Kharrazi told Prime Minister Aziz that Iranian President Muhammad Khatami was eagerly awaiting his upcoming visit to Tehran. Dr Supachai Paintchapakdi, the World Trade Organisation (WTO) director general, also met the prime minister and discussed various aspects of the WTO regime and global trade issues. The prime minister told Dr Paintchapakdi of the progress made by Pakistan’s textile and other industries to meet WTO challenges. app
