PESHAWAR: Eight people were killed on Friday when a passenger van they were travelling in rammed into a truck on the main highway linking Pakistan to Afghanistan. A senior Khyber Agency official told Daily Times that the van was carrying passengers from Peshawar to the Torkham border when it swerved because of the icy road and hit the truck near Landikotal. The dead included a little girl. Four passengers were injured and taken to hospital. The official said the road was wet and slippery because of the overnight snowfall and the deceased were both Afghans and local tribesmen. staff report
