Benazir slams govt over Dhani
KARACHI: The chairperson of the Pakistan People’s Party, Benazir Bhutto, has castigated the government for not withdrawing cases registered against Dhani Bux Memon, taluka president of the PPP in Garhi Yaseen, who attempted self-immolation in Shikarpur district.
She condemned the arrest and “torture” of four more members of the PPP Shikarpur on Wednesday.
According to a spokesman for the party, office-bearers and MPAs from the PPP tried to contact the chief secretary and home secretary by phone from Bilawal House, but they did not listen to them. He claimed that Mr Memon set a conditional deadline giving the government and administration enough time to prevent him from self-immolation which he planned in order to register his protest against the injustice being done to the PPP leadership and workers.— Staff Report
