MMA wants to restore ties with ARD
ISLAMABAD: The Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) has decided to restore its contacts with the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD), which were disrupted after the MMA supported the government on the 17th Constitutional Amendment Bill.
Jamaat-e-Islami Information Secretary Amirul Azeem told Daily Times that the MMA wanted to rejoin the ARD.
Mr Azeem said the MMA was considering calling an all parties conference to discuss how to separate electoral rolls for Muslims and non-Muslims and adding an affidavit to electoral rolls about the declaration of faith in application forms for the registration of new voters. He said that apart from playing its role in the release of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Acting President Makhdoom Javed Hashami, the MMA wanted to highlight the issue of the nuclear scientists’ debriefing, with the ARD. —Staff Report
