UK police free 3 suspects ahead of EU FM moot

LONDON: Police released three men on Friday after they were picked up in a Welsh seaside town set to host a meeting of European Union (EU) foreign ministers next week.

The trio – all asylum seekers and in their 20s - had been arrested on Thursday under the British Terrorism Act 2000 and were questioned after reports of suspicious activity in Newport. “We responded swiftly to the information in light of the current terrorist threat,” said a police spokeswoman after it had been determined that the men, living in Newport, had committed no offence. afp
