Presiding officer’s son abducted
LAHORE: The son of an Education Department official, who was posted to a polling station in Sultankay in UC 120 as presiding officer during the second phase of local council elections on August 25, was kidnapped from Model Town police precincts. However, he reached home in the evening.
Police said that Mubashra Tanveer, assistant director education, received an unidentified telephone call and was threatened for making a statement about rigging during elections at her polling station.
Later, her son Yasir, a postgraduate student, was abducted from Model High School DPS Colony and a case was registered against unidentified people on her complaint. The investigation officer told Daily Times that Yasir reached home in the evening. Police said that Mubashra’s servant Mukhtar Ahmed told them that Yasir had arrived but they were unable to meet the complainant. Her servant told Daily Times that the entire family including Yasir had left for Jhang. Model Town Investigation Superintendent of Police Waseem Ahmed was unavailable for comment. staff report
