Man involved in Pearl’s murder captured: police

LAHORE: Muhammad Hashim Qadeer, one of the men involved in kidnapping Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, has been arrested from a bus in Gujranwala on Wednesday, police told Daily Times.

“A team of police and intelligence agents caught him from a bus at a Gujranwala terminal,” police added. Hashim Qadeer was one of the three people who took Pearl to interview Mubarak Ali Shah Gillani, chief of Jamiatul Fuqra, a religious organisation banned by the US, police said.

He has been on the run since 2002. Police is also looking for Muhammad Bashir, one of Ahmad Omar Sheikh’s cohorts wanted in the Pearl murder case. “We believe that Hashim Qadeer may lead us to Bashir,” a security official said. staff report
