Book fair in Defence
LAHORE: The Defence Housing Society (DHA) held a book fair at the Defence Public Library on Monday to promote literary activities. Abdul Jalil Khan, the administrator of the DHA, inaugurated the fair.
Mr Khan said that the DHA was providing all possible facilities to residents to improve the literacy level of the area and the quality of reading and sports activities.
“The beginning of the 21st century has placed a great demand upon young people to read better and improve their writing skills,” he said. “Ironically, the 21st century has also provided distractions like television and the Internet that have reduced the number of people who read books.” Television has killed the reading habit and videos have buried it, Mr Khan said.
“This book fair will give the residents of the DHA access to a wide variety of reading material,” he said. “We want our youth to read and understand books so that they can develop and adopt a critical perspective on life.” staff report
