Former Herat governor brought to Karachi

KARACHI: Taliban’s regime governor of northern province Herat Abdul Manan Khawajazai was brought to Karachi late Tuesday night, intelligence sources said.
Arrested last week in Chaman, Balochistan, Abdul Manan Khawajazai is considered a close confidant of former Taliban ruler of Afghanistan Mullah Omer. A joint team of intelligence agencies and the police brought Manan back to Karachi where an investigation team, including sleuths from the American Federal Bureau of Investigation, has been formed to specially to find out the whereabouts of Mullah Omer. The sources said both the FBI and Pakistani intelligence agencies believed that Manan could not only provide important information about Taliban leadership but also key Al Qaeda figures. Manan is believed to be a very important person arrested during the current year that followed the arrest of some Taliban and Al Qaeda men in Karachi during the past week.
The sources however did not disclosed exact composition of the team that would interrogate Manan in Karachi. The sources also did not rule out the possibility of Manan’s handing over to the USA.
