Pakistan, China sign MoU for cooperation in information sector
BEIJING: Pakistan and China signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday to strengthen bilateral cooperation in information sector especially for the regular exchange of television programmes.
Pakistan Television (PTV) Managing Director Akhtar Waqar Azeem and China Central Television (CCTV) Chairman Zhao Huayong signed the MoU.
Under the MoU, the two countries would exchange news and current affairs programmes. The electronic media of the two countries would also cooperate in training their staff members and strengthening the technical network. Mr Azeem said the MoU would help facilitate interaction between their electronic media and promote common values. He said PTV and CCTV would set aside one week per year to telecast programmes of their bilateral interest, including documentaries and dramas. He said China had shown interest in PTV’s sports, children’s and women’s programmes and in Pakistani movies. —APP
