13 Iranian youths drown

TEHRAN: Thirteen young Iranians, who went for a swim in a reservoir in southern Fars province, drowned late Friday after being swept away by strong currents whipped up by a storm, the official IRNA news agency said.

The 13 were among a group of about 20 youngsters returning from a tour who had stopped by the Dorudzan dam, in Marvdasht region, near Shiraz, to swim in the reservoir, the region’s deputy governor, Atta Ghasemi, told IRNA. —AFP
