PIA gives best cargo agents awards
Staff Report
LAHORE: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Cargo Division held an award ceremony to honour the most productive freight agents in Lahore at the Pearl Continental Hotel on Monday.
Awards of Excellence were presented to the top three agents, who had contributed the most business to the National carrier, in the Cargo Award Ceremony 2002. Performance certificates were awarded to the top ten cargo agents. PIA Cargo Sales and Services Director Wasim Bari presented the awards and said, “Freight forwarders are not only our business partners but also friends and colleagues with whom we interact on daily basis to serve our clients”.
He said that PIA was constructing a state of the art cargo complex at the new Allama Iqbal International Airport, which would help improve cargo facilities for clients, he said.
Mr Bari also said that the cargo capacity for flights to Canada would increase, as PIA will start operating B747 aircraft instead of A310 to Toronto this summer. He said that PIA was going to start flights to Chicago via the European hub.
Earlier PIA’s Lahore Cargo Manager Mansoor Mela said, “the relationship between freight forwarders and airlines is based on mutual trust, confidence and the ability to deliver goods on time.” He further said that the Lahore station earned over Rs 810 million net revenue in 2002 and is poised to surpass the Rs 900 million mark this year.
