Govt to provide land to farmers
Staff Report
LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Colonies Mian Manazar Ali Ranjha on Wednesday said the government had decided to distribute 100,000 acres of state-owned land among landless farmers in the province as a part of the Poverty Alleviation Programme.
He said his department was working on the scheme and would soon complete all the necessary arrangements.
The land would be equally distributed in all the 24 districts of the province and the conditions of the scheme would prohibit recipients from selling or transferring the land for 20 years. Only one member per family would receive the grant and no one already owning at least four acres of land would be eligible, Mr Ranjha said.
