Doctors accused of negligence

LAHORE: A mother and her newborn on Wednesday died at Janki Devi Hospital arousing protest from the relatives that both died because of doctors’ negligence.

The protestors smashed windows of the hospital’s labour room in protest against the attitude of two senior doctors, whom they alleged were responsible for the two deaths.

The doctors have suggesting carrying out a caesarean operation on Suraya for the delivery of the child but later they changed their idea. The condition of the mother deteriorated in the wee hours of Wednesday. Dr Anees and Dr Misbah, who were called in, failed to turn up. The mother died after delivering a dead baby. The doctors described the cause of Suraya’s death as food positioning. No case had been registered till the filling of the report. —Staff Report
