President and family thank people
ISLAMABAD: President Pervez Musharraf and his family have thanked people in the country and abroad who offered thanksgiving prayers for their safety and well-being.
“It was because of people’s prayers the president is safe and as usual in high spirits,” Mr Musharraf’s family said.
Mr Musharraf and his family expressed their condolences with those killed in the terrorist attack. Mr Musharraf said those behind these terrorist acts were the enemies of Islam.
“They are not Muslims because I don’t think that Islam in any way associates itself with suicide, it is unlawful and forbidden in Islam. Islam does not associate itself with any kind of militancy and terrorism. Therefore, they are the enemies of Islam. They are the enemies of Ummah and Pakistan,” Mr Musharraf said.
“I am sure God is on the side of justice, whatever we are trying to do is just, therefore, God will be with us. There is no doubt in mind,” he added.
Nation observes Thanksgiving Day: Thanksgiving Day was observed throughout the country on Friday on Prime Minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali’s appeal after President Pervez Musharraf survived a life attempt on Thursday.
Special prayers were offered during Friday congregations for Mr Musharraf’s long life and the country’s prosperity.
