Cameras installed on Afghan border
By Azizullah Khan
QUETTA: The Frontier Corp has started installing surveillance cameras on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border to keep a check on people crossing over and to prevent infiltration by Al Qaeda and Taliban activists, Daily Times learnt on Monday. Sources said the work was still in its initial stages and the cameras would be fixed near Dosti Gate in Chaman. They said the measure was a part of $73 million given by the US to Pakistan to increase border security in the area. The aid also includes helicopters, vehicles, radios, mobile transmission sets and other communication equipment. Meanwhile, FC officials said they arrested an Afghan army officer two days ago for entering Pakistan illegally. But Afghan officials in Spin Boldak said they had no information about the matter.
