LJ leaders’ aide caught in Multan
Staff Report
MULTAN: Police in Multan have arrested another accomplice of two top Lashkar-i-Jhangvi leaders in Sahuka in Vehari district some 160km east of Multan on Tuesday night and seized two AK-47 assault rifles and hand-grenades from his hideout.
“We have busted the network of terrorists in south Punjab and arrested Hafiz Muhammad Tayyab in Sahuka. He is an accomplice of Shahab-uddin and Abdul Majid alias Bilal, the top militant sectarian group leaders, and seized a huge cache of arms, including AK-47s and hand grenades,” said the Police Deputy Inspector General, Iftikhar Ahmed Chaudhry, on Wednesday. The area locals, however, disputed the police claims, saying Tayyab was a farmer and not a member of any sectarian, religious or political group.
