Workers confirmed after probation period ends: SC

LAHORE: The probation of somebody will be confirmed in appointment when probation period expires but no order is made by the employer, a two-member Supreme Court bench ruled here on Wednesday accepting the appeal of a Ranger’ sub-inspector, Muhammad Khalil.

The applicant was a ‘hawaldar’ but on March 20, 1995, he was promoted on probation to sub-inspector for one year, which was extended to Oct 30, 1997. On Dec 9, 1997, he was reverted as hawaldar on the ground that his performance was not satisfactory. Mr Khalil moved an appeal in the SC and asked to restore his position as an SI. —Staff Report
