No hurdle to cabinet expansion: PM
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali on Wednesday said there was no hurdle in expanding the federal cabinet and it would be expanded at an appropriate time. “There is no hurdle. We will expand it whenever we want to,” he told journalists at Parliament House. Asked to comment on former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s recent statement about her efforts to stop nuclear proliferation in her tenure, Mr Jamali avoided the question. He said he was not in a position to comment whether Ms Bhutto had committed a crime by giving the statement in the media. Asked why the police and security agencies had stopped Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement (PONAM) leaders and activists from holding a seminar at Parliament Lodges, Mr Jamali said, “Parliament Lodges are only meant to provide accommodation to parliamentarians.” He did not respond when asked why the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam had been allowed to hold seminars at the lodges in the past. —Staff Report
