President and PM laud SUPARCO

ISLAMABAD: President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali attended a briefing on Pakistan’s space programme on Wednesday.

The briefing highlighted the critical importance of exploitation and utilisation of space for the socio-economic development of the country, included plans for the future development of Pakistan’s space based capabilities and development of ground infrastructure and human resources for the optimum utilisation of space.

Mr Musharraf and Mr Jamali lauded the efforts made by the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Organisation (SUPARCO) in planning a realistic and comprehensive programme for Pakistani’s space programme and gave approval for a number of proposals.

The ministers for finance, information technology, telecommunication, science and technology and other senior government officials were also present at the briefing. —NNI
