Ethiopia reclaim CECAFA Cup title

ADDIS ABABA: Ethiopia crushed Burundi 3-0 here on Saturday to win their third East and Central Africa Senior Challenge Cup title. Playing in their first-ever regional cup final, an outclassed Burundi were never given a chance as the hosts dictated throughout to finish the tournament unbeaten. Andualem Nigussie headed Ethiopia into the lead after 25 minutes before hard-working Tafesse Tesfaye added the second six minutes later. Midfielder Anteneh Alamerew put the issue beyond doubt with the third goal only three minutes into the second half, to the delight of the home fans at the 30,000-seater National Stadium. Sudan won the bronze medal by beating Kenya 2-1 in the play-off. afp
