Operation in Balochistan will be resisted: PPP
LAHORE: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will go to any extent to stop the government from carrying out military operations in Balochistan, said Khalid Kharal, the PPP secretary general, on Tuesday.
Addressing reporters after a PPP Lahore Coordination Committee meeting at his residence, Kharal said that President Pervez Musharraf was an “anti-Pakistan”. He said that Musharraf wanted to break the federation by sanctioning military operations in Balochistan. Munir Ahmad Khan, the PPP’s Foreign Liaison Committee chief, said that Musharraf should refrain from his adventures and should hold political negotiations with the real Baloch leaders instead of talking to handpicked men.
He said the PPP would take part in local council elections and would not leave any front open for the government. To a question, he said that the PPP welcomed the MMA’s decision to support the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy’s candidate in by-elections for NA-127. Aitzaz Ahsan, Jehangir Badar, Azizur Rehman Chan, Latif Khan Khosa, Kazim Khan, Justice (r) Fakharun Nisa Khokhar, Samiullah Khan and Afzal Sindhu attended the meeting.
