Hamid Gilani laid to rest
MULTAN: Former federal minister and ambassador Makhdoom Hamid Raza Gilani was put to rest on Sunday. Thousands of people attended the funeral prayers at Nishtar ground.
Jamaat Ahle-Sunnat Chief Maulana Mazhar Saeed Kazmi led the prayers. Present and former provincial ministers, members of National and Provincial Assembly, doctors, lawyers, the Pakistan People’s Party, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz and Quaid-e-Azam groups and Muttahida Majlis-s-Amal activists attended the funeral rites. However, Mr Gilani’s old friends Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar, Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi, Mumtaz Bhutto, Abdul Hafeez Pirzada, Ghulam Ishaq Khan, Mir Zafar ullah Khan Jamali , Waseem Sajjad did not attend the funerals.
At the age of 67, Mr Gilani died in the Punjab Institute of Cardiology on Saturday morning. He had a bypass surgery, which was successful, but after the surgery, Mr Gilani suffered blood loss that resulted in kidney failure. The corpse was taken to Multan, where it was stored in the Nishtar Hospital morgue till the funeral rites.
