UET debates ‘old is not gold’

PESHAWAR: An interdepartmental debate competition was organised by the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) on Wednesday.
The UET’s literary and debating society organised the competition with the motion “not the old but the young should lead the nation”. Syed Imtiaz Husain Gilani, the UET vice chancellor, while speaking on the occasion said that the event was an opportunity for students to learn rhetoric techniques and good communication skills, pertinent for acquiring jobs in the corporate sector of the country.
Gilani distributed certificates and prizes among winners in various declamation categories. Sajad Raza and Amir Mehmood secured the first positions in English and Urdu language debates respectively.
The judges’ panel consisted of senior faculty members of the Edwards College and Islamia College, Peshawar. Col (r) Imtiaz Ahmad Durrani, the UET registrar, Dr Javed Iqbal, the clubs director and other faculty members were also present on the occasion.
