Fire in Manga Mandi injures 5 labourers

LAHORE: A fire broke out in a spinning mill in the Manga Mandi police precincts on Saturday injuring five labourers and destroying thread worth Rs 1.5 million.
The fire broke out due to a short circuit. The workers called the fire brigade and tried to put out the fire, during which Riaz, Abdul Ghafoor, Amjad, Qamar and Abbas received burns. The firemen controlled the situation after two hours and rushed the injured to Jinnah Hospital. Their condition was stated out of danger.
Man killed by stray bullet: A man died when a stray bullet hit him in the Badamibagh police precincts on Saturday. Abdullah was walking on a street when the bullet hit him in the head, causing his instant death. The body was handed over to the family without autopsy.
Truck runs over beggar: A speeding truck hit a handicapped beggar in the South Cantt police precincts. Mukhtar was crossing the Bedian Road on sledge when the truck hit him. He died instantly and the body was sent for autopsy.
Man killed in road accident: An unidentified man died when a speeding tractor-trolley hit him in the Ichhra police precincts. The deceased was crossing Ferozepur Road when the tractor-trolley hit him and fled. He died instantly and his body was sent for autopsy.
Train hits man: An unidentified man died when he was hit by a train in the Kot Lakhpat police precincts. The deceased was crossing the railway track when a train coming from Karachi hit him. The body was sent for autopsy.
Man dies in hospital: An unidentified man died in Services Hospital. He was found unconscious from Ghalib Market and was brought to the hospital three days ago Passers-by told the police about the man. The body was sent for autopsy.
Police arrest five robbers: Sadar police has arrested five members of a criminal gang and confiscated stolen property and illegal weapons from them.
Akram, Ghulam Rasool, Dilawar, Mansha and Haider were arrested and jewellery, cell-phones and illegal weapons were seized from them. The accused confessed to looting four kilograms gold and Rs 1.2 million from Wazirabad, one kg of jewellery and Rs 50,000 from Faisalabad and 1.4 kg gold and Rs 130,000 from Okara.
