Interior secretary and Balochistan PPO changed

ISLAMABAD: In a surprise high-level administrative change, the government on Monday transferred Interior Secretary Tasneem Noorani and Provincial Police Officer (PPO) of Balochistan Dr Shoaib Suddle with immediate effect.

Mr Noorani has been appointed commerce secretary while Mr Suddle has been appointed director general of the National Police Research Bureau (NPRB) at Islamabad with immediate effect.

The Establishment Division, through a notification, appointed Additional Secretary Ministry of Interior Abdur Rauf as additional secretary in-charge of the ministry. He is a BS-21 officer of the Secretariat Group.

Similarly, Chaudhry Muhammad Yaqoob, a BS-21 officer of Police Services of Pakistan (PSP), has been appointed as Balochistan PPO to replace Dr Suddle. Mr Yaqoob was earlier serving as deputy director general in the Anti-Narcotics Division.

“This sudden decision to transfer Mr Noorani and Mr Suddel from their present posts was taken by Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali on Sunday,” sources said.

They added that Mr Jamali had approved the transfer of Mr Noorani and Mr Suddel before leaving for Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

Sources further said that poor law and order in Balochistan was the main reason for these transfers. The political parties had also demanded that the government transfer Dr Suddle because he had failed to maintain peace in Balochistan.

Meanwhile, Asif Ali Shah, a BS-21 officer of (PSP), has been appointed as commandant of the National Police Academy at Islamabad.

Malik Muhammad Afzal, a BS-21 officer of the Secretariat Group, has been appointed as member finance in the National Highway Authority on deputation.

Similarly, Zafar Ahmed, a BS-21 officer belonging to the Secretariat Group, has been appointed as additional secretary in the Ministry of Culture and Minority Affairs.

Liaquat Muneer Rao, a BS-20 officer of the Secretariat Group, has been appointed as a joint secretary in the Ministry of Health on deputation.

Kamran Aslam Khan, a BS-21 officer of the District Management Group (DMG), has been appointed as additional secretary in the Ministry of Commerce. Muhammad Juman Jamroo, a BS-20 officer of the DMG, has been appointed joint secretary in the Ministry of Commerce.

Hafeezur Rehman Khan, a BS-20 officer of the DMG, has been appointed joint secretary in the Ministry of Industries and Production.

Shehzad Iqbal, a BS-19 officer has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Works.

Sibt-e-Hassan, a BS-19 officer has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas.

Saif Ali, a BS-19 officer has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Culture and Minorities.

Sultan Ahmed a BS-19 officer has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Women Development.

Shehnaz Akhtar Joseph, a BS-19 officer has been asked to report to the Establishment Division.
