Bakhtgir Chaudhry new PUJ president
LAHORE: Bakhtgir Chaudhry was elected president and Qamaruz Zaman Bhatti secretary of the Punjab Union of Journalists (PUJ) for 2004-2005 by securing 263 and 190 votes, respectively.
Their opponents, Nawaz Tahir and Tasawar Raza, bagged 190 and 163 votes, respectively. Mr Chaudhry has been elected PUJ president for the third time.
Rana Azeem became senior vice president with 220 votes, Ahmad Fraz vice president with 166 votes, Shahzad Malik treasurer with 263 votes, Rana Ghulam Sarwar senior joint secretary with 273 votes and Idrees Abid became joint secretary with 207 votes.
Members for the executive body are Shabbir Dogar, Khawaja Aftab, Amir Khan, Samia Ejaz, Irfan Chaudhry, Malik Ejaz Hussain, Iqbal Harpar, Malik Iqbal and Tariq Ismail Ghazali.
Aziz Mazhar was election commissioner and Mian Fayyaz and Idrees Butt assisted him. Of 634 voters, 504 exercised their right to vote. staff report
