AFC’s Kuwaiti VP quits due to absenteeism

KUALA LUMPUR: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) said Friday its executive committee had unanimously accepted the resignation of vice-president Asad Taqi from Kuwait because of his absenteeism. “The resignation has been accepted on the grounds of Taqi’s continued absenteeism from the meetings of the AFC Executive Committee and thus, inability to fulfill his function in this elected position,” it said in a statement.

“The AFC Executive Committee will decide on the future course of action in its upcoming meeting in November 2005 in Kuala Lumpur.” An AFC official told AFP that Taqi had failed to attend executive committee meetings “for more than six months”. afp
