Witness to PPP leader’s murder shot and injured

GUJRANWALA: A witness named Mehr M Babar in the murder case of Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) President Khalid Hamayun was shot and injured by some unidentified assailants on Wednesday. Mehr Babar was admitted to District Headquarter (DHQ) Hospital where his condition was stated to be critical. Dhulley Police registered a case against unidentified assailants.
Girl abducted from Rashid Colony: Three people, including a woman, abducted a girl from Rashid Colony and took away Rs 15,000 in cash and gold. People’s Colony Police registered a case against Imran, alias Mani, Sondi and Rani. No one has been arrested yet.
Unidentified men steal question papers from BISE: Unidentified thieves broke into the Gujranwala Board of Intermediate And Secondary Education’s storeroom and stole bags of question papers on Wednesday. Police is investigating the theft.
Compressor explosion kills one and injures two: One person died and two others were injured as a refrigerator’s compressor exploded suddenly at Muhalla Islampura on Wednesday.
A refrigerator mechanic, Shaukat Ali, was trying to fill gas into the refrigerator’s compressor when it exploded. Two others, Shehzad Ahmed and his nephew Salman, who were standing next to the fridge. Shehzad died on the spot while his 6-year-old nephew Salman and the mechanic Shaukat Ali were injured. Salman’s leg was hurt and Shaukat Ali lost his hands.
Three men lose Rs 660,000 in a bid to go to Korea: Three men, while trying to go to Korea, lost Rs 660,000 in a fraud. Abdur Rauf, Maqbool, Shehbaz Ahmed, and Sajjad, alias Heera, from Chah Tailianwala, demanded Rs 660,000 from Jamil, Arshad, and Naseer Ahmed, promising to send them to Korea. A case had been registered against them.
Man rescued from illegal police detention: On the orders of Gujranwala District and Sessions Judge Riazul Hassan Alvi, a court bailiff raided Ferozwala Police Station and took back Shehbaz Ahmed, who had been illegally detained there for the last five days. The judge ordered a bailiff-raid in response to a petition filed by Shehbaz Ahmed’s relatives.
Driver steals Rs 40,000 from boss: The driver of a local industrialist, Hafeez Ahmed, deceived his employer.
Hafeez Ahmed sent his driver to a nearby bank with a cheque worth Rs 400,000. The driver enchased the cheque and fled. Model Town Police registered a case.
Temporary bail of 5 people cancelled: Additional District and Sessions Judge Wamiq Javed cancelled the temporary bail of Surayya Bibi, Nadia, Roobi, Nawaz and Ilyas Gujjar on Wednesday. Meanwhile, all of them were sent to jail.
