Judicial body starts investigating gang rape case
ISLAMABAD: A two-member judicial committee comprising Additional Deputy Commissioner General Zafar Iqbal Awan and Rural Circle Assistant Commissioner Sajid Chauhan on Monday started investigation of the alleged gang-rape incident in the Shahzad Town police station.
District administration sources told Daily Times that one person from the aggrieved party appeared before the judicial committee and recorded his statement.
However, Mr Chauhan denied that anyone from the aggrieved party had come before the committee. However, he said the accused police officials had been summoned to record their statements before the committee. He added that the committee would complete its inquiry within three days. Mr Chauhan refused to disclose further information about the inquiry.
The committee has also summoned the alleged rape victim, Saira, and her mother to record their statements, sources said, adding that the committee was also considering setting up a medical board chosen by the district administration to examine the victim. staff report
