96 Indian cricket fans arrive
LAHORE: Some 96 Indians arrived on Tuesday through a special train to watch the last One Day International (ODI) cricket match at Gadaffi Stadium on Wednesday (today).
This was the second special train run for carrying cricket spectators and arrived at 2:15pm on Tuesday at Lahore Railway Station. The first was run on March 20 to bring spectators from Atari (India).
“We have come to share the feeling of love and friendship that we possess for each other and I know that this trip will be an unforgettable experience for me as I am in time to witness the final ODI match between two cricket giants,” said Surinder Singh, an Amritsar resident.
“Being in Lahore is very pleasant as we are reviving our memories by returning to our birthplace,” said other cricket fans.
“We are all facing similar problems about our visas,” they said adding, they had been granted 4-day visas, but the transportation problems would cause them an early departure after just two days.
“Our visas were to expire on March 27 but we have to return on March 25 because no special train was run for our departure and only Samjohta Express was available,” said they.
They demanded the Pakistani authorities run a special train for their departure as well because they wanted a complete tour of Lahore. —Staff Report
