Judge asks CM, governor to check district govts
LAHORE: Justice Rustam Ali Malik of the Lahore High Court (LHC) has asked the governor and chief minister of the Punjab to take notice of the illegal steps being taken by office holders of district governments.
District nazims have disturbed the system of district governments, which was evolved as a plan to delegate power, the court observed.
The court said the district nazims and other office holders have “enslaved the police” to use it to harm political rivals.
The court accepted the writ petition of Kalsoom and sent its orders to the District Safety Commission of Kasur.
Petitioner Kalsoom through her advocate Nawab Ali Mayo had submitted that her husband, over a monetary dispute in business with a partner, had filed a civil suit in lower courts. —Staff Report
