Minister directs action against C&W officers

LAHORE: Punjab minister for Communication and Works (C&W) Chaudhry Zaheerud Din on Sunday directed the secretary of the department to take action against the executive engineer (XEN) and the sub division officer (SDO) under the Punjab Service Ordinance 2000 on grounds of inefficiency.

The direction was based on complaints by people of the area about sub-standard repairs of Lahore-Sheikupura and Sheikupura-Faisalabad Roads. He said no negligence in duty could be tolerated. The calculated cost of patchwork and maintenance is to be recovered from the responsible officers and officials. The XEN and SDO of Sheikupura sector are to be transferred immediately and replaced. The Minister directed the setting up of camp offices in the section to oversee the rectification work. A compliance report is to be submitted within 24 hours and orders conveyed to the concerned officers immediately to meet the government’s stated commitment to provide better traveling facilities to the commuters.
