NSC proposes reforms in media
PESHAWAR: The Nefaz-e-Shariat Council in NWFP on Saturday handed over a list of 40 recommendations to the provincial government to be implemented for the reformation of print and electronic media.
The proposals said that a committee of religious scholars and professionals be constituted to draw parameters for the print and electronic media.
The electronic media would be asked not to air dramas and movies that are repugnant to the principles of Islam. More time to be allotted for programmes aimed at promotion of Islamic teachings in the society.
Steps will be taken to ban anti-Islamic writings. Advertisements will not be given to those newspapers and magazines that print anti-Islamic and immoral literature and photographs. —SANA
