Nusrat Bhutto recovering
Staff Report
LAHORE: A former first lady and the mother of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, Begum Nusrat Bhutto, is recovering fast in the Iranian Hospital in Dubai where she underwent a surgery last week.
Most of the day on Sunday she had no fever, whereas at other times she has a mild fever. According to her doctors, Begum Bhutto will need four more weeks’ physiotherapy for the fractured bone to heal. During this four-week time she will largely remain confined to her hospital bed.
Meanwhile, people and messages of goodwill continued to pour into the hospital to inquire after her. The family’s well-wishers sent her bouquets and messages of goodwill and prayers for her early recovery. Federal Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat also sent a bouquet to her.
Those who visited the hospital and commiserated with Ms Bhutto included vice chairman Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Acting Secretary General Senator Raza Rabbani, Senator Safdar Abbasi, Ms Naheed Khan, Member National Assembly (MNA), Mr Gondal, Mr Keira, Mr Zahir Shah, Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) from the NWFP, Mr Umar Hoti, and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders Mr Qamar Abbas and Mr Khanzada Khan.
PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto has thanked all well-wishers who either personally visited the hospital or sent messages of goodwill by telephone, e-mail and fax. “I would like to thank each and everyone individually but it is not possible, so I take this opportunity to thank all well-wishers on behalf of the Bhutto family,” she said. “Their prayers, expressions of support and good whishes have been a source of great strength in these stressful hours,” said Ms Bhutto in a message.
